English Translation
Arim told us, 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Muslim al-Qasmali told us, Sulayman al-A'mash told us, from Habib ibn Abi Thabit, from Yahya ibn Ja'dah, from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "No one in whose heart is the weight of a grain of faith will enter the Fire, and no one in whose heart is the weight of a grain of pride will enter Paradise." A man said, "O Messenger of Allah, I like my garment to be washed clean, my hair to be oiled, and the strap of my sandal to be new" — and he mentioned other things until he mentioned even the strap of his whip — "is that pride, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "No, that is beauty; indeed Allah is beautiful and loves beauty. But pride is [to] belittle the truth and despise people."
