حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ النَّخَعِيِّ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ اضْطَجَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى حَصِيرٍ فَأَثَّرَ فِي جَنْبِهِ فَلَمَّا اسْتَيْقَظَ جَعَلْتُ أَمْسَحُ جَنْبَهُ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَلَا آذَنْتَنَا حَتَّى نَبْسُطَ لَكَ عَلَى الْحَصِيرِ شَيْئًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا لِي وَلِلدُّنْيَا مَا أَنَا وَالدُّنْيَا إِنَّمَا مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُ الدُّنْيَا كَرَاكِبٍ ظَلَّ تَحْتَ شَجَرَةٍ ثُمَّ رَاحَ وَتَرَكَهَا.
English Translation
Yazid told us: al-Mas’udi informed us, from Amr ibn Murrah, from Ibrahim al-Nakha’i, from Alqamah, from Abdullah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, lay down on a mat, which left marks on his side. When he woke, I began wiping his side and said, "O Messenger of Allah, had you not told us, we would have spread something for you on the mat." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "What have I to do with this world? What am I and this world? My likeness and the likeness of this world are only like a rider who rested in the shade of a tree, then moved on and left it."
