English Translation
Waki’ told us: Sufyan told us, from Hakim ibn Jubayr, from Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Yazid, from his father, from Abdullah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Whoever begs while he has enough to make him independent will come on the Day of Resurrection with scratches" — or "gouges" — "on his face." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, what is his sufficiency?" He said, "Fifty dirhams, or its equivalent in gold."
