English Translation
Abu Mu’awiyah told us: Ibrahim ibn Muslim al-Hajari told us, from Abu al-Ahwas, from Abdullah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "The destitute person is not the one who goes around begging, nor the one turned away by a date or two dates, or a morsel or two morsels, but rather the destitute one is the one who abstains, who does not ask people for anything, and is not noticed so as to be given charity."
