حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَيْرُ النَّاسِ قَرْنِي ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ يَأْتِي بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ قَوْمٌ تَسْبِقُ شَهَادَاتُهُمْ أَيْمَانَهُمْ وَأَيْمَانُهُمْ شَهَادَاتِهِمْ.
English Translation
Abu Mu'awiyah told us: al-A'mash told us, from Ibrahim, from Abidah, from Abdullah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The best of people are my generation, then those who follow them, then those who follow them, then those who follow them; then after that will come a people whose testimonies precede their oaths, and their oaths precede their testimonies."
