حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَقَ عَنِ التَّمِيمِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَقَدْ أُمِرْتُ بِالسِّوَاكِ حَتَّى ظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ سَيَنْزِلُ بِهِ عَلَيَّ قُرْآنٌ أَوْ وَحْيٌ.
English Translation
The Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade the sale of dates until they had been tasted. Someone asked: 'What does tasting mean?' He said: 'Until they turn red or yellow and can be eaten.'
