حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي يَزِيدَ أَخْبَرَهُ أَبُوهُ قَالَ نَزَلْتُ عَلَى أُمِّ أَيُّوبَ الَّذِينَ نَزَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَزَلْتُ عَلَيْهَا فَحَدَّثَتْنِي بِهَذَا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُمْ تَكَلَّفُوا طَعَامًا فِيهِ بَعْضُ هَذِهِ الْبُقُولِ فَقَرَّبُوهُ فَكَرِهَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ كُلُوا إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَأَحَدٍ مِنْكُمْ إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ أُوذِيَ صَاحِبِي يَعْنِي الْمَلَكَ.
English Translation
Sufyan ibn Uyaynah narrated to us, Ubaydullah ibn Abi Yazid narrated to us, his father informed him. He said: I stayed with Umm Ayyub - those with whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had stayed - I stayed with her and she narrated to me from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that they prepared food that contained some of these vegetables (garlic/onion). They brought it to him, but the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) disliked it and said to his Companions: "Eat, for I am not like any of you. I fear that I might offend my companion" - meaning the angel.
