English Translation
Abu Ahmad narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Abdullah ibn Uthman, meaning Ibn Khuthaym, from Shahr ibn Hawshab, from Asma' bint Yazid, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Lying is not permissible except in three matters: a man's lying to his wife to please her, reconciling between people, or lying in war."
