English Translation
Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, Jarir ibn Hazim informed us, from Qatadah, from Shahr ibn Hawshab, from Asma' bint Yazid, who said: We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in his house when he said: "Three years before the Dajjal emerges, the sky will withhold one-third of its rain and the earth will withhold one-third of its produce. In the second year, the sky will withhold two-thirds of its rain and the earth will withhold two-thirds of its produce. In the third year, the sky will withhold all of its rain and the earth will withhold all of its produce. No animal with a hoof or paw will remain alive except that it will perish. The Dajjal will say to a Bedouin: 'What if I bring back your camels, with full udders and large humps? Will you acknowledge that I am your Lord?' He will say: 'Yes.' So the devils will take the forms of his camels, and he will follow him. He will say to a man: 'What if I bring back your father and your son and those you know from your family? Will you acknowledge that I am your Lord?' He will say: 'Yes.' So the devils will take their forms, and he will follow him." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went out and the people of the house wept. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) returned while we were weeping and said: "What makes you weep?" I said: "O Messenger of Allah, what you mentioned about the Dajjal! By Allah, our servant girl kneads her dough and it does not reach completion before she is nearly fainting from hunger. So how will we manage on that day?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "What will suffice the believers for food and drink on that day is takbir (saying Allahu Akbar), tasbih (saying SubhanAllah), and tahmid (saying Alhamdulillah)." Then he said: "Do not weep, for if the Dajjal emerges while I am among you, then I will be his opponent. And if he emerges after me, then Allah is my successor over every Muslim."
