حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي سُلَيْمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي طَاوُسٌ عَنْ أُمِّ مَالِكٍ الْبَهْزِيَّةِ قَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَيْرُ النَّاسِ فِي الْفِتْنَةِ رَجُلٌ مُعْتَزِلٌ فِي مَالِهِ يَعْبُدُ رَبَّهُ وَيُؤَدِّي حَقَّهُ وَرَجُلٌ آخِذٌ بِرَأْسِ فَرَسِهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ يُخِيفُهُمْ وَيُخِيفُونَهُ.
English Translation
Yunus ibn Muhammad told us, he said Abd al-Wahid ibn Ziyad told us, he said Layth - meaning Ibn Abi Sulaym - told us, he said Tawus told me, from Umm Malik al-Bahziyyah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "The best of people during tribulation is a man who keeps to himself with his wealth, worships his Lord, and fulfills his due; and a man who holds the head of his horse in the way of Allah, striking fear into the enemy and being feared by them."
