English Translation

Muhammad ibn Ja'far and Hajjaj told us, they said: Shu'bah told us, from Ibrahim ibn Muhajir, from Abu Bakr ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Harith, he said: Marwan sent to Umm Ma'qil al-Asadiyyah to ask her about this hadith, and she told him that her husband had dedicated a young camel of hers in the way of Allah, and that she wanted to perform Umrah, so she asked her husband for the young camel and he refused. So she went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and mentioned that to him, and he ordered him to give it to her. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Hajj and Umrah are both in the way of Allah," and he said: "An Umrah in Ramadan is equal to a Hajj," or "suffices for a Hajj" — and Hajjaj said: "is equal to a Hajj" or "suffices for a Hajj." Ibn Numayr told us, he said: Muhammad ibn Abi Isma'il told us, from Ibrahim ibn Muhajir, from Abu Bakr ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Qurashi, from Ma'qil ibn Abi Ma'qil: that his mother came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said — and he mentioned its meaning.
