حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ مَعَ أَبِي عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعِنْدَهُ رَجُلٌ يُنَاجِيهِ فَكَانَ كَالْمُعْرِضِ عَنْ أَبِي فَخَرَجْنَا مِنْ عِنْدِهِ فَقَالَ لِي أَبِي أَيْ بُنَيَّ أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ابْنِ عَمِّكَ كَالْمُعْرِضِ عَنِّي فَقُلْتُ يَا أَبَتِ إِنَّهُ كَانَ عِنْدَهُ رَجُلٌ يُنَاجِيهِ قَالَ فَرَجَعْنَا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ أَبِي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قُلْتُ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ كَذَا وَكَذَا فَأَخْبَرَنِي أَنَّهُ كَانَ عِنْدَكَ رَجُلٌ يُنَاجِيكَ فَهَلْ كَانَ عِنْدَكَ أَحَدٌ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهَلْ رَأَيْتَهُ يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ قَالَ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَإِنَّ ذَاكَ جِبْرِيلُ وَهُوَ الَّذِي شَغَلَنِي عَنْكَ.
English Translation
I was with my father at the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and there was a man conversing privately with him. The Prophet seemed to be turning away from my father. When we left, my father said: 'O my son, did you see your cousin turning away from me?' I said: 'O father, there was a man privately conversing with him.' We returned to the Prophet (peace be upon him), and my father said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I said such-and-such to Abdullah, and he told me there was a man with you. Was there anyone with you?' The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Did you see him, O Abdullah?' I said: 'Yes.' He said: 'That was Jibril, and he is the one who kept me occupied from you.'
