English Translation
Yunus ibn Muhammad narrated to us: Hammad - meaning Ibn Salamah - narrated to us, from Dawud - meaning Ibn Abi Hind - from al-Sha'bi, from Fatimah bint Qays, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, came one day in haste and ascended the pulpit, and it was announced among the people, "The congregational prayer!" so the people gathered, and he said, "O people, I have not called you together for some good news that has come down, nor for some fear, but rather Tamim al-Dari informed me that a group of people from Palestine had boarded a ship at sea, and the wind cast them upon an island among the islands of the sea, and there they came upon a hairy creature, so shaggy that they could not tell whether it was male or female, so abundant was its hair. They said, 'Who are you?' It said, 'I am the Jassasah.' They said, 'Then tell us.' It said, 'I am not one to inform you nor to ask you for information, but in this monastery is a man eager that you inform him and that you ask him for information.' So they entered the monastery, and there was a one-eyed man, shackled in iron. He said, 'Who are you?' We said, 'We are the Arabs.' He said, 'Has the Prophet been sent among you?' They said, 'Yes.' He said, 'And have the Arabs followed him?' They said, 'Yes.' He said, 'That is better for them.' He said, 'What has become of Persia - has he prevailed over it?' They said, 'He has not yet prevailed over it.' He said, 'He shall indeed prevail over it.' Then he said, 'What has become of the spring of Zughar?' They said, 'It gushes forth full.' He said, 'What has become of the palm trees of Baysan - do they bear fruit?' They said, 'Their earliest trees have already fruited.' He said - then he leapt up so violently that we thought he would break free - and we said, 'Who are you?' He said, 'I am the Dajjal. I shall tread upon all the earth except Makkah and Tayba.'" The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Rejoice, O company of Muslims, this is Tayba - he will not enter it," meaning the Dajjal.
