حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَنْ أُمِّ عِيسَى الْجَزَّارِ عَنْ أُمِّ جَعْفَرٍ بِنْتِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ عَنْ جَدَّتِهَا أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ عُمَيْسٍ قَالَتْ لَمَّا أُصِيبَ جَعْفَرٌ وَأَصْحَابُهُ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَدْ دَبَغْتُ أَرْبَعِينَ مَنِيئَةً وَعَجَنْتُ عَجِينِي وَغَسَّلْتُ بَنِيَّ وَدَهَنْتُهُمْ وَنَظَّفْتُهُمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ائْتِينِي بِبَنِي جَعْفَرٍ قَالَتْ فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِهِمْ فَشَمَّهُمْ وَذَرَفَتْ عَيْنَاهُ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي مَا يُبْكِيكَ أَبَلَغَكَ عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ وَأَصْحَابِهِ شَيْءٌ قَالَ نَعَمْ أُصِيبُوا هَذَا الْيَوْمَ قَالَتْ فَقُمْتُ أَصِيحُ وَاجْتَمَعَ إِلَيَّ النِّسَاءُ وَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ فَقَالَ لَا تُغْفِلُوا آلَ جَعْفَرٍ مِنْ أَنْ تَصْنَعُوا لَهُمْ طَعَامًا فَإِنَّهُمْ قَدْ شُغِلُوا بِأَمْرِ صَاحِبِهِمْ.
English Translation
Ya'qub narrated to us, he said: My father narrated to me, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, he said: 'Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr narrated to us, from Umm 'Isa al-Jazzar, from Umm Ja'far bint Muhammad ibn Ja'far ibn Abi Talib, from her grandmother Asma' bint 'Umays, she said: When Ja'far and his companions were struck down (killed), I entered upon the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, having already tanned forty hides, kneaded my dough, washed my sons, oiled them, and cleaned them. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Bring me the sons of Ja'far. She said: So I brought them to him, and he smelled them, and his eyes shed tears. I said: O Messenger of Allah, may my father and mother be your ransom, what makes you weep? Has any news reached you about Ja'far and his companions? He said: Yes, they were struck down (killed) this very day. She said: So I got up wailing, and the women gathered around me, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, went out to his household and said: Do not neglect the family of Ja'far - prepare food for them, for they have been occupied with the affair of their companion.
