حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا فُلَيْحٌ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ صَعْصَعَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ أَبِي يَعْقُوبَ عَنْ أُمِّ الْمُنْذِرِ بِنْتِ قَيْسٍ قَالَتْ دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَعَهُ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ وَعَلِيٌّ نَاقِهٌ مِنْ مَرَضٍ قَالَتْ وَلَنَا دَوَالٍ مُعَلَّقَةٌ فَقَامَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلِيٌّ يَأْكُلَانِ مِنْهَا فَطَفِقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَهْلًا فَإِنَّكَ نَاقِهٌ حَتَّى كَفَّ عَلِيٌّ قَالَتْ وَقَدْ صَنَعْتُ شَعِيرًا وَسِلْقًا فَلَمَّا جِئْنَا بِهِ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِعَلِيٍّ مِنْ هَذَا أَصِبْ فَهُوَ أَوْفَقُ لَكَ فَأَكَلَا ذَلِكَ.
English Translation
Surayj narrated to us, he said: Fulayh narrated to us, from Ayyub ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Sa'sa'ah al-Ansari, from Ya'qub ibn Abi Ya'qub, from Umm al-Mundhir bint Qays, she said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, entered upon me with 'Ali ibn Abi Talib, and 'Ali was convalescing from an illness. She said: And we had hanging bunches of dates, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and 'Ali stood eating from them, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, began saying: Gently, for you are convalescing, until 'Ali desisted. She said: And I had prepared barley and chard, and when we brought it to them, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to 'Ali: Take from this, for it is more suitable for you. So they both ate that.
