English Translation
Ibn Numayr told us: Hisham told us, from Fatimah, from Asma', who said: The sun was eclipsed in the time of the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him), so I went in to Aishah and said, 'What is the matter with the people, praying?' She pointed with her head towards the sky. I said, 'A sign?' She said, 'Yes.' The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) prolonged the standing greatly until faintness overcame me, so I took a waterskin beside me and began pouring water on my head. The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) finished, and the sun had become clear again. The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) then delivered a sermon; he praised God and extolled Him, then said: 'To proceed: there is nothing that I had not seen before that I have now seen in this standing place of mine, even Paradise and the Fire. It has been revealed to me that you will be tried in your graves, near to, or like, the trial of the Antichrist (al-Masih al-Dajjal) — I do not know which of the two she said.' Asma' said: 'One of you will be brought and it will be said, "What was your knowledge of this man?" As for the believer, or the one of firm faith — I do not know which of the two she said — he will say, "He is Muhammad, he is the Messenger of God; he brought us clear signs and guidance, so we responded and followed" — three times. Then it will be said to him, "We knew that you believed in him; so sleep in peace." But as for the hypocrite, or the doubter — I do not know which of the two she said — he will say, "I do not know; I heard the people saying something, so I said it."'
