حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ وَعَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ حُيَيٍّ قَالَتْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُعْتَكِفًا فَأَتَيْتُهُ أَزُورُهُ لَيْلًا فَحَدَّثْتُهُ ثُمَّ قُمْتُ فَانْقَلَبْتُ فَقَامَ مَعِي يَقْلِبُنِي وَكَانَ مَسْكَنُهَا فِي دَارِ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ فَمَرَّ رَجُلَانِ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ فَلَمَّا رَأَيَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَسْرَعَا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى رِسْلِكُمَا إِنَّهَا صَفِيَّةُ بِنْتُ حُيَيٍّ فَقَالَا سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَجْرِي مِنْ الْإِنْسَانِ مَجْرَى الدَّمِ وَإِنِّي خَشِيتُ أَنْ يَقْذِفَ فِي قُلُوبِكُمَا شَرًّا أَوْ قَالَ شَيْئًا.
English Translation
'Abd al-Razzaq told us: Ma'mar and 'Abd al-A'la informed us, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from 'Ali bin Husayn, from Safiyyah bint Huyay, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was in spiritual retreat, and I came to visit him at night. I spoke with him, then I got up to leave, and he got up with me to walk me back - her dwelling was in the house of Usamah bin Zayd. Two men from the Ansar passed by, and when they saw the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, they hurried on. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Take your time, the two of you; this is Safiyyah bint Huyay." They said: "Glory be to Allah, O Messenger of Allah!" He said: "Indeed Satan runs in the son of Adam as blood runs, and I feared that he might cast something evil into your hearts," or he said, "something."
