قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي حَجَّاجُ بْنُ السَّائِبِ بْنِ أَبِي لُبَابَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُنْذِرِ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ أَنَّ جَدَّتَهُ أُمَّ السَّائِبِ خُنَاسَ بِنْتِ خِذَامِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ كَانَتْ عِنْدَ رَجُلٍ قَبْلَ أَبِي لُبَابَةَ تَأَيَّمَتْ مِنْهُ فَزَوَّجَهَا أَبُوهَا خِذَامُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ رَجُلًا مِنْ بَنِي عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفِ بْنِ الْخَزْرَجِ فَأَبَتْ إِلَّا أَنْ تَحُطَّ إِلَى أَبِي لُبَابَةَ وَأَبَى أَبُوهَا إِلَّا أَنْ يُلْزِمَهَا الْعَوْفِيَّ حَتَّى ارْتَفَعَ أَمْرُهَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هِيَ أَوْلَى بِأَمْرِهَا فَأَلْحِقْهَا بِهَوَاهَا قَالَ فَانْتُزِعَتْ مِنْ الْعَوْفِيِّ وَتَزَوَّجَتْ أَبَا لُبَابَةَ فَوَلَدَتْ لَهُ أَبَا السَّائِبِ بْنَ أَبِي لُبَابَةَ.
English Translation
He said: I read to Ya'qub bin Ibrahim, who said: my father told us, from Ibn Ishaq, who said: Hajjaj bin al-Sa'ib bin Abi Lubabah bin 'Abd al-Mundhir al-Ansari told me that his grandmother Umm al-Sa'ib, Khunas bint Khidham bin Khalid, had been with a man before Abu Lubabah, from whom she had become separated. Her father Khidham bin Khalid married her to a man from Banu 'Amr bin 'Awf bin al-Khazraj, but she refused, insisting instead on going to Abu Lubabah, while her father refused, insisting on binding her to the man from Banu 'Awf, until her matter was raised to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "She has more right over her own affair; attach her to what she desires." He said: So she was taken away from the man of Banu 'Awf, and she married Abu Lubabah, and she bore him Abu al-Sa'ib bin Abi Lubabah.
