حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ نَافِعٍ أَنَّ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنَّهَا دَخَلَتْ عَلَى أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ بِنْتِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ فَقَالَتْ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ لَا يَحِلُّ لِامْرَأَةٍ تُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ أَنْ تُحِدَّ عَلَى مَيِّتٍ فَوْقَ ثَلَاثِ لَيَالٍ إِلَّا عَلَى زَوْجٍ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرًا قَالَ أَبِي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ أَبُو أَفْلَحَ وَهُوَ حُمَيْدٌ صَفِيرَا.
English Translation
Abd al-Razzaq told us: Malik told us, from Abdullah b. Abi Bakr, from Humayd b. Nafi', that Zaynab bint Abi Salamah informed him that she entered upon Umm Habibah bint Abi Sufyan, and she said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: 'It is not lawful for a woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day to observe mourning for a deceased person for more than three nights, except for a husband - four months and ten days.'" My father said: "Humayd b. Nafi' is Abu Aflah, and he is Humayd Safira."
