English Translation
Waki' told us: Sufyan told us, from Abdullah b. Uthman b. Khuthaym, from Abd al-Rahman b. Abdullah b. Sabit, from Hafsah bint Abd al-Rahman, from Umm Salamah, who said: When the Emigrants came to Medina to the Helpers, they married their women. The Emigrants used to approach from behind in intercourse, while the Ansar did not do so. A man of the Emigrants wanted this of his wife, but she refused him until she could ask the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. She said: She came to him but was too shy to ask him, so Umm Salamah asked him on her behalf, and there was revealed: "Your wives are a tilth for you, so come to your tilth however you wish." And he said, "Only through one opening." Waki' said: "Ibn Sabit was a man of Quraysh."
