حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ أَخْبَرَنِي يَعْلَى بْنُ مَمْلَكٍ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ صَلَاةِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِاللَّيْلِ قَالَتْ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي الْعِشَاءَ الْآخِرَةَ ثُمَّ يُسَبِّحُ ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي بَعْدَهَا مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مِنْ اللَّيْلِ ثُمَّ يَنْصَرِفُ فَيَرْقُدُ مِثْلَ مَا يُصَلِّي ثُمَّ يَسْتَيْقِظُ مِنْ نَوْمَتِهِ تِلْكَ فَيُصَلِّي مِثْلَ مَا نَامَ وَصَلَاتُهُ تِلْكَ الْآخِرَةُ تَكُونُ إِلَى الصُّبْحِ.
English Translation
Narrated to us by Abd al-Razzaq, who said: Ibn Jurayj narrated to us, who said: Abdullah ibn Abi Mulaykah said: Ya'la ibn Mamlak informed me that he asked Umm Salamah, wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), about the night prayer of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). She said: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray the last night prayer, then glorify Allah, then pray after it as much as Allah, Mighty and Sublime, willed of the night, then he would go and sleep the same amount of time he had prayed, then he would wake from that sleep of his and pray the same amount he had slept, and that last prayer of his would extend until dawn."
