English Translation
Narrated to us by Shuja' ibn al-Walid, from Ali ibn Abd al-A'la, from Abu Sahl, from Mussah al-Azdiyyah, from Umm Salamah, wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said: "Women in confinement after childbirth in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to sit for forty days, and we used to smear wars on our faces because of dark facial spots."
