English Translation
Abu 'Amir told us, Aflah b. Sa'id told us, he said 'Abdullah b. Rafi' told us: Umm Salamah used to relate that she heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say on the pulpit, "O people..." while she was having her hair combed. She said to the woman combing her hair, "Wrap up my head." The woman said, "May I be your ransom, he is only saying 'O people.'" I said, "Woe to you, are we not among the people?" So she wrapped her head and stood in her chamber, and heard him say, "O people, while I was at the Basin, you were brought to me in groups, then the paths scattered you, and I called out to you, 'Come this way, to the path!' Then a caller called out from behind me, saying, 'They have changed [the religion] after you.' So I said, 'Away with them, away with them!'"
