حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي ثَوْرُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْكَلَاعِيُّ وَكَانَ ثِقَةً عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ الْمَكِّيِّ قَالَ حَجَجْتُ مَعَ عَدِيِّ بْنِ عَدِيٍّ الْكِنْدِيِّ فَبَعَثَنِي إِلَى صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ شَيْبَةَ ابْنَةِ عُثْمَانَ صَاحِبِ الْكَعْبَةِ أَسْأَلُهَا عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ سَمِعَتْهَا مِنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَكَانَ فِيمَا حَدَّثَتْنِي أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ عَائِشَةَ تَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ لَا طَلَاقَ وَلَا عِتَاقَ فِي إِغْلَاقٍ.
English Translation
Sa'd ibn Ibrahim told us: My father told us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, who said: Thawr ibn Yazid al-Kala'i, who was trustworthy, told me, from Muhammad ibn Ubayd ibn Abi Salih al-Makki, who said: I performed hajj with Adi ibn Adi al-Kindi, and he sent me to Safiyyah bint Shaybah, daughter of Uthman, keeper of the Ka'bah, to ask her about things she had heard from Aisha, wife of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, concerning the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. Among what she told me was that she heard Aisha say: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: There is no divorce and no manumission under compulsion.
