English Translation
Abd al-Wahhab ibn Ata narrated to us, from Dawud ibn Abi Hind, from al-Sha'bi, from Aisha, who said: The prayer was made obligatory in units of two, two, except the sunset prayer, which was made obligatory as three, because it is an odd number. She said: The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, when he traveled, would pray the original prayer except the sunset prayer, and when he settled, he would add two more units to each two, except the sunset prayer, because it is an odd number, and the dawn prayer, because he lengthened the recitation in it.
