حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو أَبُو عَامِرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ حَدَّثَتْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ يَكُنْ يَصُومُ مِنْ شَهْرٍ مِنْ السَّنَةِ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ صَوْمِهِ مِنْ شَعْبَانَ فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يَصُومُ شَعْبَانَ كُلَّهُ وَكَانَ يَقُولُ خُذُوا مِنْ الْعَمَلِ مَا تُطِيقُونَ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَا يَمَلُّ حَتَّى تَمَلُّوا وَإِنَّهُ كَانَ أَحَبُّ الصَّلَاةِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا دُووِمَ عَلَيْهَا وَكَانَ إِذَا صَلَّى صَلَاةً دَاوَمَ عَلَيْهَا.
English Translation
Abdullah narrated to us: Abd al-Malik ibn Amr Abu Amir narrated to me, he said: Hisham narrated to us from Yahya from Abu Salamah, that Aisha told him that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, did not fast in any month of the year more than he fasted in Sha'ban, for he used to fast the whole of Sha'ban, and he used to say: 'Take up of deeds what you can bear, for Allah, Mighty and Sublime, does not tire until you tire.' And the prayer most beloved to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was that which was maintained regularly, and whenever he prayed a prayer he would maintain it.
