قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا سَلِيمُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ مِينَاءَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ يَقُولُ حَدَّثَتْنِي خَالَتِي عَائِشَةُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَهَا لَوْلَا أَنَّ قَوْمَكِ حَدِيثُ عَهْدٍ بِشِرْكٍ أَوْ بِجَاهِلِيَّةٍ لَهَدَمْتُ الْكَعْبَةَ فَأَلْزَقْتُهَا بِالْأَرْضِ وَجَعَلْتُ لَهَا بَابَيْنِ بَابًا شَرْقِيًّا وَبَابًا غَرْبِيًّا وَزِدْتُ فِيهَا مِنْ الْحَجَرِ سِتَّةَ أَذْرُعٍ فَإِنَّ قُرِيْشًا اقْتَصَرَتْهَا حِينَ بَنَتْ الْكَعْبَةَ.
English Translation
He said: Abd al-Rahman told us: Salim ibn Hayyan told us, from Sa'id ibn Mina, who said: I heard Ibn al-Zubayr say: My maternal aunt Aisha narrated to me that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to her, "Were it not that your people are so recently emerged from shirk or from Jahiliyyah, I would have demolished the Ka'bah and leveled it to the ground, and given it two doors - an eastern door and a western door - and I would have added six cubits to it from al-Hijr, for Quraysh reduced it when they built the Ka'bah."
