English Translation
Abd al-Razzaq told us, Ma'mar told us, from Qatadah, from al-Hasan, who said: Sa'd ibn Hisham informed me that he heard Aishah say: "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to pray Witr with nine rak'ahs, and two rak'ahs while sitting; then when he grew weak, he prayed Witr with seven, and two rak'ahs while sitting." Abd al-Razzaq told us, Ma'mar told us, from Qatadah, from Zurarah ibn Awfa, that Sa'd ibn Hisham ibn Amir, who was his neighbor, informed him, and he mentioned the hadith, that he entered upon Aishah, and she related from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that he used to pray nine rak'ahs, not sitting among them except at the eighth, at which he would praise Allah, Mighty and Majestic, remember Him, and supplicate, then rise without giving the closing salutation; then he would pray the ninth and sit, praising Allah, Mighty and Majestic, remembering Him, and supplicating, then he would give the closing salutation aloud so that we could hear it. Then he would pray two rak'ahs while sitting.
