English Translation
Ibn Numayr told us, Hisham informed us, from his father, from Aishah, who said: The sun eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, so the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, stood to pray, and he prolonged the standing greatly, then bowed and prolonged the bowing greatly, then raised his head and stood, prolonging the standing greatly though less than the first standing, then he prostrated, then stood and prolonged the standing though less than the first, then bowed and prolonged the bowing though less than the first bowing, then raised his head and stood prolonging the standing though less than the first standing, then bowed and prolonged the bowing though less than the first bowing, then prostrated. Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, finished, and the sun had cleared. He then addressed the people, praising Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and extolling Him, then said: "Indeed the sun and the moon are among the signs of Allah, and they do not eclipse for the death of anyone nor for his life. So when you see them, say the takbir, call upon Allah, Mighty and Majestic, pray, and give charity. O nation of Muhammad, no one is more jealous than Allah, Mighty and Majestic, that His servant should commit fornication or His maidservant should commit fornication. O nation of Muhammad, by Allah, if you knew what I know, you would weep much and laugh little. Have I not conveyed the message?"
