English Translation
Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us: Ma'mar narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from Urwah, from Aisha, concerning the saying of Allah, Mighty and Sublime, {Indeed, al-Safa and al-Marwah are among the symbols of Allah} -- she said: There were men among the Ansar who used to pray to the idol Manat in the Age of Ignorance -- Manat being an idol between Makkah and Madinah. They said: O Prophet of Allah, we used to circle between al-Safa and al-Marwah in reverence to Manat, so is there any blame upon us in circling between them? So Allah, Mighty and Sublime, revealed: {Indeed, al-Safa and al-Marwah are among the symbols of Allah; so whoever makes Hajj to the House or performs Umrah, there is no blame upon him in going around them.}
