حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ أَخْبَرَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَلَّامٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ يَحْيَى بْنَ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو قِلَابَةَ أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ شَيْبَةَ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ طَرَقَهُ وَجَعٌ فَجَعَلَ يَشْتَكِي وَيَتَقَلَّبُ عَلَى فِرَاشِهِ فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ لَوْ صَنَعَ هَذَا بَعْضُنَا لَوَجِدْتَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ الصَّالِحِينَ يُشَدَّدُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَإِنَّهُ لَا يُصِيبُ مُؤْمِنًا نَكْبَةٌ مِنْ شَوْكَةٍ فَمَا فَوْقَ ذَلِكَ إِلَّا حُطَّتْ بِهِ عَنْهُ خَطِيئَةٌ وَرُفِعَ بِهَا دَرَجَةً.
English Translation
Hisham ibn Sa'id narrated to us: Mu'awiyah -- that is, Ibn Sallam -- informed us, who said: I heard Yahya ibn Abi Kathir say: Abu Qilabah informed me that Abd al-Rahman ibn Shaybah informed him that Aisha informed him: that pain befell the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, one night, and he began to complain and turn over on his bed, so Aisha said: If one of us had done this, you would have been displeased. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The righteous are tried more severely, and no believer is afflicted with a mishap, even a thorn-prick or greater, but a sin is thereby removed from him and a degree raised for him because of it.
