حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ قَالَ قَالَتْ لِي عَائِشَةُ أَلَا يُعْجِبُكَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ جَاءَ فَجَلَسَ إِلَى جَانِبِ حُجْرَتِي يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُسْمِعُنِي ذَلِكَ وَكُنْتُ أُسَبِّحُ فَقَامَ قَبْلَ أَنْ أَقْضِيَ سُبْحَتِي لَوْ جَلَسَ حَتَّى أَقْضِيَ سُبْحَتِي لَرَدَدْتُ عَلَيْهِ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ يَكُنْ يَسْرُدُ الْحَدِيثَ كَسَرْدِكُمْ.
English Translation
Uthman ibn Umar narrated to us: Yunus narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from Urwah, who said: Aisha said to me: Does it not amaze you -- Abu Hurayrah came and sat beside my chamber relating from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, letting me hear that, while I was performing my glorifications, and he got up before I finished them. Had he sat until I finished, I would have responded to him: the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, never used to string together speech the way you people string it together.
