حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّها قَالَتْ دَخَلَ عَلَيْنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ فِي يَوْمِ عِيدٍ وَعِنْدَنَا جَارِيَتَانِ تَذْكُرَانِ يَوْمَ بُعَاثَ يَوْمٌ قُتِلَ فِيهِ صَنَادِيدُ الْأَوْسِ وَالْخَزْرَجِ فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ عِبَادَ اللَّهِ أَمَزْمُورُ الشَّيْطَانِ عِبَادَ اللَّهِ أَمَزْمُورُ الشَّيْطَانِ قَالَهَا ثَلَاثًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ إِنَّ لِكُلِّ قَوْمٍ عِيدًا وَإِنَّ الْيَوْمَ عِيدُنَا.
English Translation
Affan narrated to us: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us: Hisham ibn Urwah narrated to us, from Urwah, from A'ishah, that she said: "Abu Bakr entered upon us on a festival day, and we had two young girls [singing], mentioning the Day of Bu'ath, the day on which the champions of the Aws and Khazraj were killed. Abu Bakr said: 'Servants of Allah, [is this] the flute of Satan? Servants of Allah, [is this] the flute of Satan?' - saying it three times. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'O Abu Bakr, every people has a festival, and this is our festival.'"
