حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ اخْتَصَمَ سَعْدُ بْنُ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ وَعَبْدُ بْنُ زَمْعَةَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ سَعْدٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ابْنُ أَخِي عُتْبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ عَهِدَ إِلَيَّ أَنَّهُ ابْنُهُ انْظُرْ إِلَى شَبَهِهِ وَقَالَ عَبْدُ بْنُ زَمْعَةَ هَذَا أَخِي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وُلِدَ عَلَى فِرَاشِ أَبِي فَنَظَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى شَبَهِهِ فَرَأَى شَبَهًا بَيِّنًا بِعُتْبَةَ فَقَالَ هُوَ لَكَ يَا عَبْدُ بْنَ زَمْعَةَ الْوَلَدُ لِلْفِرَاشِ وَلِلْعَاهِرِ الْحَجَرُ وَاحْتَجِبِي مِنْهُ يَا سَوْدَةُ ابْنَةَ زَمْعَةَ قَالَتْ فَلَمْ يَرَ سَوْدَةَ قَطُّ.
English Translation
Rawh told us: Ibn Jurayj told us: Ibn Shihab informed me, from Urwa, from Aisha, who said: Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas and Abd ibn Zam'a disputed before the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. Sa'd said: 'O Messenger of Allah, this is the son of my brother Utba ibn Abi Waqqas; he entrusted to me that he was his son - look at his resemblance.' And Abd ibn Zam'a said: 'This is my brother, O Messenger of Allah, born on my father's bed.' So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, looked at his resemblance and saw a clear resemblance to Utba, but he said: 'He is yours, O Abd ibn Zam'a. The child belongs to the marriage bed, and for the adulterer is the stone. And veil yourself from him, O Sawda bint Zam'a.' She said: So he never saw Sawda again.
