حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَطَاءٌ الْخُرَاسَانِيُّ أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ دَخَلَ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ وَهِيَ صَائِمَةٌ وَالْمَاءُ يُرَشُّ عَلَيْهَا فَقَالَ لَهَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ أَفْطِرِي فَقَالَتْ أُفْطِرُ وَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ صَوْمَ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ يُكَفِّرُ الْعَامَ الَّذِي قَبْلَهُ.
English Translation
Affan told us: Hammad ibn Salama told us: Ata al-Khurasani informed us, that Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakr entered upon Aisha on the Day of Arafa while she was fasting and water was being sprinkled on her. Abd al-Rahman said to her: 'Break your fast.' She said: 'Shall I break my fast, when I have heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: Fasting the Day of Arafa expiates for the year before it?'
