حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سِمَاكُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّهَا اشْتَرَتْ بَرِيرَةَ مِنْ نَاسٍ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ فَاشْتَرَطُوا الْوَلَاءَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْوَلَاءُ لِمَنْ وَلِي النِّعْمَةَ قَالَ وَخَيَّرَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَكَانَ زَوْجُهَا عَبْدًا فَأَهْدَتْ إِلَى عَائِشَةَ لَحْمًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَوْ صَنَعْتُمْ لَنَا مِنْ هَذَا اللَّحْمِ فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ تُصُدِّقَ بِهِ عَلَى بَرِيرَةَ فَقَالَ هُوَ عَلَيْهَا صَدَقَةٌ وَهُوَ لَنَا هَدِيَّةٌ.
English Translation
Mu'awiyah ibn Amr told us: Za'idah told us: Simak ibn Harb told us, from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Qasim, from his father, from A'ishah: that she bought Barirah from some people of the Ansar, and they had stipulated the right of patronage. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Patronage belongs to the one who frees the slave." He said: And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave her the choice, and her husband was a slave. She gave A'ishah some meat as a gift, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If only you had prepared some of this meat for us." A'ishah said, "It was given to Barirah as charity." He said, "It is charity for her, but a gift for us."
