حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ عَنْ عَامِرٍ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ إِنْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيَبِيتُ جُنُبًا فَيَأْتِيهِ بِلَالٌ لِصَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ فَيَقُومُ فَيَغْتَسِلُ وَإِنِّي لَأَنْظُرُ إِلَى الْمَاءِ يَنْحَدِرُ فِي جِلْدِهِ وَشَعَرِهِ فَأَسْمَعُ قِرَاءَتَهُ لِصَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ ثُمَّ يَظَلُّ صَائِمًا قَالَ مُطَرِّفٌ قُلْتُ لِعَامِرٍ فِي رَمَضَانَ قَالَ سَوَاءٌ عَلَيْكَ.
English Translation
Affan told us: Abu Awanah told us, from Mutarrif, from Amir al-Sha'bi, from Masruq, from A'ishah, that she said: the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would sometimes spend the night in a state of major ritual impurity, and Bilal would come to him for the dawn prayer; he would then get up and perform the greater ablution, and I would watch the water running down his skin and hair, and I would hear his recitation for the dawn prayer; then he would remain fasting. Mutarrif said: I asked Amir, "In Ramadan?" He said: "It is the same for you."
