English Translation
Abd al-A'la told us, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Urwah, from Aishah, that Barirah came to her seeking her help, and she was a slave under a contract of manumission. Aishah said to her, "Would your masters sell you?" So she went to her masters and mentioned that to them, and they said, "No, unless they stipulate for themselves her right of patronage." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Buy her and free her, for the right of patronage belongs to the one who frees."
