حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَوْفِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى مَيِّتٍ قَالَ فَفَهِمْتُ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ عَلَيْهِ اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُ وَارْحَمْهُ وَاغْسِلْهُ بِالْمَاءِ وَالثَّلْجِ وَنَقِّهِ مِنْ الْخَطَايَا كَمَا نَقَّيْتَ الثَّوْبَ الْأَبْيَضَ مِنْ الدَّنَسِ.
English Translation
Abd al-Rahman b. Mahdi told us, from Mu'awiyah, from Abd al-Rahman b. Jubayr, from his father, from Awf b. Malik, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed over a deceased person, and I understood from his prayer over him: "O Allah, forgive him and have mercy on him, and wash him with water and snow, and cleanse him of sins as a white garment is cleansed of dirt."
