حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَوْفِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ الْأَشْجَعِيِّ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا جَاءَ فَيْءٌ قَسَمَهُ مِنْ يَوْمِهِ فَأَعْطَى الْآهِلَ حَظَّيْنِ وَأَعْطَى الْعَزَبَ حَظًّا وَاحِدًا فَدُعِينَا وَكُنْتُ أُدْعَى قَبْلَ عَمَّارِ بْنِ يَاسِرٍ فَدُعِيتُ فَأَعْطَانِي حَظَّيْنِ وَكَانَ لِي أَهْلٌ ثُمَّ دَعَا بِعَمَّارِ بْنِ يَاسِرٍ فَأُعْطِيَ حَظًّا وَاحِدًا فَبَقِيَتْ قِطْعَةُ سِلْسِلَةٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَجَعَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَرْفَعُهَا بِطَرَفِ عَصَاهُ ثُمَّ رَفَعَهَا وَهُوَ يَقُولُ كَيْفَ أَنْتُمْ يَوْمَ يَكْثُرُ لَكُمْ مِنْ هَذَا.
English Translation
Abu al-Mughirah told us, saying: Safwan told us, saying: Abd al-Rahman b. Jubayr b. Nufayr told us, from his father, from Awf b. Malik al-Ashja'i, who said: When war-spoils came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he would distribute them that same day, giving a married man two shares and a single man one share. So we were summoned — and I used to be summoned before Ammar b. Yasir — I was summoned and given two shares, since I had a family. Then Ammar b. Yasir was summoned and given one share. There remained a piece of a gold chain, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began lifting it up with the tip of his staff, then he raised it, saying, "How will you be on the day when much of this comes to you?"
