English Translation

Yahya ibn Adam narrated to us, Isra'il narrated to us from Abu Ishaq from Farwa ibn Nawfal al-Ashja'i from his father who said: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, handed to me the daughter of Umm Salama and said, "You are only her foster-father." He said: I stayed as long as God willed, then I came to him, and he said, "What has the girl -- or the little girl -- done?" I said, "She is with her mother." He said, "Then what have you come for?" I said, "Teach me what to say at my sleep." He said, "Recite at your sleep: 'Say, O disbelievers...' [Surat al-Kafirun]." He said, "Then sleep upon its ending, for it is a disavowal of shirk."
