حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ الْجُرَيْرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ حَدَّثَنِي مَنْ سَمِعَ خُطْبَةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي وَسَطِ أَيَّامِ التَّشْرِيقِ فَقَالَ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ أَلَا إِنَّ رَبَّكُمْ وَاحِدٌ وَإِنَّ أَبَاكُمْ وَاحِدٌ أَلَا لَا فَضْلَ لِعَرَبِيٍّ عَلَى أَعْجَمِيٍّ وَلَا لِعَجَمِيٍّ عَلَى عَرَبِيٍّ وَلَا لِأَحْمَرَ عَلَى أَسْوَدَ وَلَا أَسْوَدَ عَلَى أَحْمَرَ إِلَّا بِالتَّقْوَى أَبَلَّغْتُ قَالُوا بَلَّغَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَيُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا قَالُوا يَوْمٌ حَرَامٌ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَيُّ شَهْرٍ هَذَا قَالُوا شَهْرٌ حَرَامٌ قَالَ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَيُّ بَلَدٍ هَذَا قَالُوا بَلَدٌ حَرَامٌ قَالَ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ حَرَّمَ بَيْنَكُمْ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ قَالَ وَلَا أَدْرِي قَالَ أَوْ أَعْرَاضَكُمْ أَمْ لَا كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا أَبَلَّغْتُ قَالُوا بَلَّغَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِيُبَلِّغْ الشَّاهِدُ الْغَائِبَ.
English Translation
Isma'il narrated to us, Sa'id al-Jurayri narrated to us, from Abu Nadrah: someone who heard the sermon of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, in the middle of the days of Tashriq narrated to me, that he said: O people, indeed your Lord is one, and your father is one. Indeed there is no superiority for an Arab over a non-Arab, nor for a non-Arab over an Arab, nor for a red-skinned person over a black one, nor a black one over a red one, except by piety. Have I conveyed the message? They said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, has conveyed it. Then he said: What day is this? They said: A sacred day. Then he said: What month is this? They said: A sacred month. Then he said: What land is this? They said: A sacred land. He said: Then Allah has made your blood and your wealth sacred among you — and he said: I do not know whether he said 'and your honor' or not — like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this month of yours, in this land of yours. Have I conveyed the message? They said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, has conveyed it. He said: Let the one who is present convey it to the one who is absent.
