حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ عَنْ أَبِي الْبَخْتَرِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ كَانَ أَصْحَابُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْأَلُونَهُ عَنْ الْخَيْرِ وَكُنْتُ أَسْأَلُهُ عَنْ الشَّرِّ قِيلَ لِمَ فَعَلْتَ ذَلِكَ قَالَ مَنْ اتَّقَى الشَّرَّ وَقَعَ فِي الْخَيْرِ.
English Translation
It was narrated to us by Waki', from Sufyan, from Ata' ibn as-Sa'ib, from Abu al-Bakhtari, who said: Hudhayfah said: "The Companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to ask him about good, while I used to ask him about evil." It was said, "Why did you do that?" He said: "Whoever is wary of evil falls into good."
