حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا إِسْحَاقَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ صِلَةَ بْنِ زُفَرَ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ جَاءَ أَهْلُ نَجْرَانَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالُوا ابْعَثُوا إِلَيْنَا رَجُلًا أَمِينًا فَقَالَ لَأَبْعَثَنَّ إِلَيْكُمْ رَجُلًا أَمِينًا حَقَّ أَمِينٍ حَقَّ أَمِينٍ قَالَ فَاسْتَشْرَفَ لَهَا النَّاسُ قَالَ فَبَعَثَ أَبَا عُبَيْدةَ بْنَ الْجَرَّاحِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ.
English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us: Shu'bah narrated to us, he said: I heard Abu Ishaq narrate, from Silah ibn Zufar, from Hudhayfah, that he said: The people of Najran came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and said, "Send us a trustworthy man." He said, "I shall indeed send you a trustworthy man, truly trustworthy, truly trustworthy." He said: The people looked forward eagerly for it. He said: So he sent Abu Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah, may Allah be pleased with him.
