قَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ وَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ إِنَّ رَجُلًا مِمَّنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ أَتَاهُ مَلَكٌ لِيَقْبِضَ نَفْسَهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ هَلْ عَمِلْتَ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقَالَ مَا أَعْلَمُ قِيلَ لَهُ انْظُرْ قَالَ مَا أَعْلَمُ شَيْئًا غَيْرَ أَنِّي كُنْتُ أُبَايِعُ النَّاسَ وَأُجَازِفُهُمْ فَأُنْظِرُ الْمُعْسِرَ وَأَتَجَاوَزُ عَنْ الْمُوسِرِ فَأَدْخَلَهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ الْجَنَّةَ.
English Translation
Hudhayfah said: And I heard him say: "A man from among those before you was approached by an angel to take his soul. He said to him: Have you done any good? He said: I do not know. It was said to him: Look [again]. He said: I know of nothing, except that I used to deal with people in trade and would be lenient with them - I would grant respite to the one in hardship and overlook the debt of the one with means. So Allah, Mighty and Majestic, admitted him into Paradise."
