English Translation
Abu Mu'awiyah told us, al-A'mash told us, from Sa'd b. 'Ubaydah, from al-Mustawrid b. Ahnaf, from Silah b. Zufar, from Hudhayfah, he said: I prayed with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) one night. He opened with Surat al-Baqarah and recited until he reached the hundredth verse; I said: "He will bow now," but he went on until he reached the two-hundredth; I said: "He will bow now," but he went on until he finished it. I said: "He will bow now." Then he opened Surat Al 'Imran and finished it; I said: "He will bow now." Then he opened Surat al-Nisa' and recited it, then he bowed. He said in his bowing: "Glory be to my Lord, the Magnificent," and his bowing was as long as his standing; then he prostrated, and his prostration was like his bowing, and he said in his prostration: "Glory be to my Lord, the Most High." Whenever he passed a verse of mercy he would ask, and whenever he passed a verse containing punishment he would seek refuge, and whenever he passed a verse containing declaration of God's transcendence he would glorify Him.
