English Translation
Abu Mu'awiyah told us, al-A'mash told us, from Zayd b. Wahb, he said: Hudhayfah entered the mosque, and there was a man praying near the gates of Kindah, not completing his bowing or prostration properly. When he finished, Hudhayfah said to him: "Since when have you been praying like this?" He said: "For forty years." Hudhayfah said to him: "You have not prayed for forty years; if you were to die with this being your prayer, you would die on other than the natural disposition upon which Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was created." Then he turned to him to teach him, and said: "A man may shorten his prayer, yet still complete the bowing and prostration properly."
