English Translation

Ishaq ibn Isa told us: Malik informed me, from Yazid ibn Ruman, from Salih ibn Khawwat ibn Jubayr, from someone who prayed with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, on the day of Dhat ar-Riqa' the prayer of fear, that one group lined up with him while another group faced the enemy. He prayed one rak'ah with the group that was with him, then remained standing, and they completed the prayer by themselves; then they withdrew and lined up facing the enemy, and the other group came and he prayed with them the remaining rak'ah of his prayer, then remained seated, and they completed it by themselves; then he gave the closing greeting. Malik said: This is the most preferred of what I have heard concerning the prayer of fear.
