حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ يَزِيدَ بْنَ أَبِي كَبْشَةَ يَخْطُبُ بِالشَّامِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُحَدِّثُ عَبْدَ الْمَلِكِ بْنَ مَرْوَانَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي الْخَمْرِ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فِي الْخَمْرِ إِنْ شَرِبَهَا فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ عَادَ الرَّابِعَةَ فَاقْتُلُوهُ.
English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ja'far told us: Shu'ba told us, from Abu Bishr, who said: I heard Yazid ibn Abi Kabsha delivering a sermon in Syria. He said: I heard a man among the Companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, narrating to Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan that he said, concerning wine: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said concerning wine: If he drinks it, flog him; then if he does it again, flog him; then if he does it again, flog him; then if he does it a fourth time, kill him.
