English Translation
Yazid told us: Yahya informed us, from Abdullah ibn al-Mughira ibn Abi Burda al-Kinani, who was informed that some of the Banu Mudlij told him that they used to ride rafts on the sea for fishing, carrying with them water for the journey. The time for prayer would come upon them while they were at sea, and they mentioned that to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saying, "If we perform ablution with our own water we will become thirsty, and if we perform ablution with sea water we feel uneasy about it." He said to them: It is the purifier - its water is pure and its dead (creatures) are lawful.
